At this stage I was wondering how to get a few more hp on top. I started to think that the M4 exhaust, with its 1-5/8" headers, might be holding things up. I scrounged together a TBR full system and installed it for testing. I fully expected to lose some midrange with this pipe because the headers are 1-3/4", but maybe it would pick up a few on top. At least that was the theory! Run 057 shows how theory can be wrong so often when it comes to this stuff. Same top end, but more midrange! Whacky. This is totally counter to what I have seen on other Hawks, so it just goes to show you that testing is everything. So, either a TBR, Hiperform, (same dimensions) or custom Burns Stainless system will be going on the bike in the end. Now, where to find that missing top end???
