With the "hard parts" sort of finalized, now I turned my attention to making the bike a midrange monster. The owner wanted "more more more!" on top- as I did- but I wanted to fill in the midrange because I learned early on that midrange makes for a quicker lap time, in most cases. I had a "frankenstein" tailpipe setup laying around that I wanted to test on the M4 header/collector. The tailpipe is the usual 2.0, but on the end of it was a Burns Stainless 2.5" inlet, 3.5" outlet x 14" long muffler. (I had used this during some RC51 testing with success) This muffler, near as I can tell, acts a bit like a megaphone due to the differing inlet/outlet size. "What the hell?" I thought so I tried it. A whopping great midrange increase was the result. (run 048) It lost a couple hp on top because the jetting went goofy, but the pipe showed great promise. I shelved it and went on testing other things.
